Role Description
As a Staff Engineer focused on Developer Productivity, you will play a critical role in shaping the engineering experience for a fast-growing team of 50+ engineers operating in a large monorepo with continuous deployment to production. You will focus on improving the entire path-to-production—from local development environments and build systems to testing frameworks and deployment workflows—ensuring engineers can ship high-quality software quickly and reliably.

Own the developer experience:
- Take end-to-end ownership of the build, test, and deployment workflows used across the engineering organization.

Improve monorepo productivity:
- Optimize build pipelines and developer workflows within a large JavaScript/TypeScript monorepo to reduce friction and increase iteration speed.

Implement modern build tooling:
- Evaluate and implement tools such as TurboRepo, Bazel, Nx, or similar technologies to improve build times and modularize dependencies.

Drive engineering productivity initiatives:
- Identify bottlenecks across teams and implement solutions that improve development velocity and reliability.

Enhance testing visibility:
- Improve test coverage insights and build frameworks that allow teams to confidently ship changes at high velocity.

Collaborate cross-functionally:
- Work closely with multiple product and platform teams to understand development pain points and implement scalable solutions.

Support a global platform:
- Contribute to systems that operate across multi-cloud and multi-region infrastructure supporting customers worldwide.

Lead technical initiatives:
- Drive projects from concept through implementation while influencing engineering best practices across the organization.
Qualifications
- 8–15 years of software engineering experience, primarily in backend or platform engineering roles.
- Experience improving build systems, testing frameworks, and deployment workflows for large engineering teams.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript, with solid computer science fundamentals.
- Experience working in large monorepos and improving developer productivity within complex codebases.
- A track record of owning cross-team infrastructure projects that impact many engineers.
- Experience supporting high-growth engineering organizations (40+ engineers) where dependency management and coordination become complex.
- Strong systems design and distributed systems knowledge.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence technical decisions across teams.
Requirements
- Experience implementing build orchestration tools such as TurboRepo, Bazel, Nx, or similar.
- Background working on developer tooling, build systems, CI/CD platforms, or internal engineering infrastructure.
- Experience working within high-growth startups or scaling engineering organizations.
- Familiarity with Go or backend services alongside TypeScript systems.
- Experience operating distributed systems across multi-cloud or multi-region environments.
- Previous experience leading developer productivity or platform initiatives.
