Role Description

We're looking for an Interconnection Manager, Sr. on behalf of our client. This is an 11-month contract assignment (W-2). You will participate in the Mid-Continent Independent System Operator (MISO) and Southwest Power Pool (SPP) generator interconnection processes. You will oversee the full life cycle of development and construction of projects. This role is important for the successful execution of new generating asset growth within the MISO and SPP regions.

As an experienced technical team member, you will collaborate with internal project developers/originators and external entities including the ISO and Transmission Owners (TO). Main responsibilities include:

  • Managing the generator interconnections, which encompasses interconnection application filing, queue management, system impact study review, and generator interconnection agreement negotiation/amendments.
  • Acting as an interconnection subject matter expert.
  • Providing essential support for projects, including diligence for Merger & Acquisition and greenfield projects.

Location: Juno Beach, FL preferred - remote considered.

11-month contract assignment (W-2).

Qualifications

  • Power systems background with a deep understanding of transmission planning and NERC reliability standards.
  • Experience with steady-state thermal/voltage, short-circuit, transient stability using industry analytical tools such as PSS/E, PSLF, PowerGEM TARA, TSAT, and ASPEN.
  • Experience with the planning processes within RTOs/ISOs and Transmission Providers, especially relating to baseline reliability planning and generator interconnection studies.
  • Ability to coordinate with multiple internal and external SMEs to complete comprehensive tasks.
  • Understanding of transmission policy and regulatory issues related to generator interconnection.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information to external team members and all levels of management.
  • Provide solutions for technical transmission issues for development projects and current assets.
  • Demonstrated experience and a working relationship with ISOs MISO and/or SPP, essential for roles related to generator or load interconnection agreements.
  • Knowledge of utility and ISO interconnection study methodology, criteria, and business practices.
  • Experience in transmission planning with a focus on grid reliability.
