Role Description
This is a remote position.
Major responsibilities include:
- Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic models using Power Query and best‑practice data modeling.
- Develop scalable star‑schema models and reusable datasets to support enterprise reporting.
- Ensure visualizations are intuitive, accurate, and aligned with business needs.
- Analyze complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for business improvement.
Other responsibilities include:
- Working closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translating them into BI solutions.
- Presenting insights and recommendations to leadership in a clear, compelling way.
- Supporting self‑service analytics by enabling business users to explore curated datasets.
Essential Job Duties:
- Implement BI best practices, including version control, documentation, and data governance.
- Optimize Power BI datasets for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
- Partner with data engineering teams to refine Snowflake schemas, pipelines, and performance.
- Partner with report data architect to curate certified datasets, data dictionaries, and business glossaries.
- Validate data quality and ensure consistency across all BI assets.
- Support the governance standards for dataset ownership and lifecycle, access models, and role‑based permissions.
- Establish best practices for dataset usage, report creation, and data stewardship.
- Monitor adoption and continuously improve the self‑service ecosystem.
- Develop and deliver train‑the‑trainer programs to empower power users, analysts, and business champions.
- Create training materials, documentation, and hands‑on workshops for Power BI and Snowflake‑based data sources.
- Mentor business teams on interpreting insights, building reports, and applying data‑driven decision‑making.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in BI, analytics, or data modeling roles (Required).
- 5+ years of advanced proficiency with Power BI (DAX, Power Query, data modeling) (Required).
- 5+ years of skill with Microsoft Office tools, particularly with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and SharePoint (Required).
- 3+ years of strong SQL skills with hands‑on experience in Snowflake, Databricks, or similar product (Required).
- 5+ years of experience designing or supporting self‑service analytics environments (Required).
- 2+ years of knowledge of database structures and theories (Preferred).
- 2+ years of knowledge of enterprise information management processes and methodologies, relational database management systems, and metadata management (Required).
- 2+ years of knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations (PII) relevant to data management and data governance (Required).
- 2+ years of experience in working in fast-paced and ever-changing environments; achieving project deliverables and deadlines; exercising sound judgment in making critical decisions; analyzing complex information and developing plans to address identified issues (Required).
- 2 years of skill in interpersonal relationships, including the ability to work with people under pressure, negotiate among multiple parties, resolve conflicts, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with various levels of personnel (Required).
- 2+ years of experience in data-focused projects, like moving from Legacy to newer systems (Preferred).
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in data processing, computer science, business administration, or a related field (Preferred).
