Job Description
Role Description
Statewise is looking for a senior full-stack engineer who wants real ownership and real impact. This role is for someone who enjoys fast-paced environments, building thoughtful systems, and shipping reliable software that supports real-world healthcare workflows. If you care about quality, performance, and long-term maintainability—and want to see your work directly improve healthcare—this role will be a strong fit.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and operate production software across the full stack:
- Backend services in C# / modern .NET
- Web APIs and server-side applications
- SQL Server data models and performance-optimized queries
- Front-end web applications
- Cross-platform mobile apps using .NET MAUI (iOS & Android)
- Own features end-to-end, from design through delivery and follow-up
- Debug complex issues across UI, APIs, background processing, and data
- Write and maintain unit tests as a standard part of development
- Design systems with performance, scalability, and reliability in mind
- Integrate with AWS services, including Lambda
- Participate actively in code reviews and design discussions
- Identify technical debt and drive pragmatic improvements
- Support deployments and take ownership of system stability
Qualifications
- 8+ years of professional software development experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Strong experience with C# and modern .NET (Core / 6 / 8+)
- Experience building with ASP.NET MVC (Razor) and ASP.NET Web API
- Deep experience with SQL Server, including schema design and query optimization
- Strong understanding of Entity Framework Core, LINQ, and performance tradeoffs
- Experience designing scalable, maintainable systems and applying design patterns pragmatically
- Solid experience writing and maintaining unit tests
- Experience debugging production systems
- Experience working with AWS services
- Familiarity with CI/CD workflows (e.g., Azure DevOps)
- Must be authorized to work in the United States. Statewise does not provide visa sponsorship at this time.
Requirements
- You learn systems quickly and reduce ambiguity for yourself and others
- You take ownership of outcomes, not just task completion
- You are technically fluent and can follow and contribute to technical discussions
- You measure your own success by the quality of your code and the bugs you prevent, not just by output volume
- You think about performance and scalability while designing, not after the fact
- You debug methodically and can explain what’s happening and why
- You care about how software is actually used by real people
- You are curious, pragmatic, and focused on improving systems over time
- You communicate clearly and work well in a small, fast-moving team
- You actively use AI tools to accelerate learning, debugging, and unit test quality
What Success Looks Like
- Within 45 days, you’re trusted with meaningful features or critical bugs
- Performance and reliability are considered from design through release
- Delivery is predictable and aligned with business priorities
- The systems you touch become easier to understand and evolve
- The team around you gets better through your contributions
Benefits
- Remote-first role (Nashville or Fort Worth proximity is a plus, not a requirement)
- Competitive salary based on experience
- Medical insurance with employer contribution
- HSA with employer contribution
- Dental insurance available (employee-paid)
- 401(k) with employer match
- Flexible PTO with an expectation that people actually take time off
- Paid parental leave

R-ZeroFounded to meet an opportunity to fundamentally change how society approaches health in the built environment, R-Zero develops the most effective and innovative technologies to create safer, healthier buildings for all. While most risk mitigation tactics require human behavior changes, we’re using technology to eliminate “decision-making” from the process, and automate better health outcomes in the built environment. Combining space utilization sensor technology, AI, ML, and IoT-connected hardware, our biosafety technology platform is the first designed to create indoor spaces that actively work to keep occupants safer, healthier and more productive. Together, we’re pioneering a new category at the intersection of science, health, and technology — to create buildings optimized for people. Today, R-Zero's products are enabling healthier indoor environments for hundreds of thousands of people across the country. As we deliver the future of Healthy Buildings, there’s never been a more exciting time to join our mission.
