Symetra's Internship Program for Summer 2026 is entirely remote - all interns will learn and work in a virtual setting. The internship duration is 12 weeks.
Summary
We are seeking a procurement intern to support foundational procurement transformation efforts while gaining exposure to vendor management, analytics, and process design.
Responsibilities
· Assisting in procurement data cleanup and spend analytics (e.g., categorizing spend, vendor tiering, data governance tasks, missing contractual metadata).
· Supporting RFP template standardization and helping draft requirements or intake forms.
· Helping with contract review process mapping and documentation of roles & responsibilities.
· Building and updating procurement process documentation (intake, contracting, vendor evaluation).
· Supporting savings tracking and reporting — helping maintain the savings pipeline and dashboard inputs.
· Contributing to technology assessment prep (documenting functional requirements, benchmarking vendor capabilities).
Qualifications
· Strong Excel/data analysis skills (pivot tables, charts, cleaning large datasets).
· Comfort with PowerPoint for creating executive-ready slides.
· Exposure to analytics tools or interest in learning procurement platforms.
· Strong research and benchmarking skills (comparing suppliers, analyzing industry best practices).
· Detail-oriented organizational skills to track multiple workstreams.
· Strong communication and writing — able to summarize findings clearly.
· Curiosity and problem-solving mindset — willing to dig into data/process gaps.
· Professional stakeholder presence — comfortable interacting with business partners and suppliers.
· Adaptable, collaborative, and proactive in suggesting improvements.
