Role Description
Brown & Brown is seeking a Healthcare Actuarial Analyst to join our growing team! In this role, you will work with other team members to provide high quality deliverables to our large employer, insurer, provider and care solution clients through data-driven insights and strategic actuarial expertise. You will support initiatives that directly impact our clients’ success in managing their risk across their healthcare programs.
- Support a diverse range of actuarial or analytical projects and effective client deliverables
- Develop an understanding of core actuarial concepts and their applications to tools and best practices
- Identify and bring attention to data issues and outliers in results
- Provide actuarial support to internal business partners on client deliverables
- Develop presentation materials and communicate results to stakeholders
- Assist in the development of actuarial models
- Foster strong cross-functional relationships with other B&B teams to ensure accurate, timely teamwork and project execution
Qualifications
- Bachelors’ degree in related fields (e.g., mathematics, statistics, actuarial science)
- On Actuarial Exam track, with 2+ Actuarial exams passed
- 3+ years of healthcare actuarial experience in one or more of the following areas preferred:
- Knowledge of commercial healthcare and healthcare stop loss markets and products
- Traditional Health & Welfare benefits actuarial consulting and underwriting experience
- Reserving, pricing and financial modeling for both first dollar and medical stop loss
- Experience with alternative funding arrangements such as MEWAs and Captives
- Experience in actuarial model development
- Knowledge of healthcare databases and data sources (claims, encounters, labs, EMR etc.)
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, conceptualize, problem solve, and communicate information clearly and collaboratively with attention to detail, accuracy, timeliness
- Proven critical thinking skills that allow you to push through the data and find effective solutions
- Experience building quantitative models in Excel, SQL (Structured Query Language), VBA (Visual Basic for Applications), and/or Python or R
- Excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written, particularly in conveying complex topics to non-expert audiences and a professional presence

- Pay Range: $110,000 - $110,000 Annual
- The pay range provided above is made in good faith and based on our lowest and highest annual salary or hourly rate paid for the role and takes into account years of experience required, geography, and/or budget for the role.
