Job Description
Role Description
The Chief of Staff role reports directly to the Chief Legal Officer and is a high visibility position interacting directly with the CEO and other members of the Executive Leadership team. The role focuses on three key areas:
- Primary point person for day-to-day legal department operations including executive support for the CLO and legal leadership team.
- Vendor oversight, invoice review and budget setting and management for legal department.
- Key player in management of corporate governance of all public company/SEC requirements and Board of Directors materials and meetings.
This is a fully remote position with quarterly travel as needed for legal team and Board of Director’s meetings. The position requires exceptional judgment, responsiveness, discretion, attention to detail, and demonstrated experience supporting public-company governance and SEC processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience
- 3+ years supporting company executive leadership and/or interacting with Board of Directors
- Public company experience assisting to fulfill SEC filing requirements (e.g., proxy, 8-K/10-Q/10-K, director/officer questionnaires, etc)
- Demonstrated experience preparing materials for Board of Directors meetings.
- Ability to operate effectively in a remote environment, including coordinating across time zones and managing competing priorities with minimal supervision.
- Strong understanding of legal terminology, corporate governance practices, and document management.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to handle competing deadlines
- Sound judgment and discretion to handle sensitive/confidential information or material nonpublic information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and board management software (e.g., Diligent).
Requirements
- Travel within the United States (CO, CA, NM, VA, FL, PA) four to six times per year in connection with legal team offsites and/or Board of Director’s meetings.
