Role Description

The AirCover Claim Platform team at Airbnb is responsible for providing comprehensive protection for both guests and hosts. We manage the AirCover program, which includes:

• Host Liability Insurance
• Experience Liability Insurance
• Host Damage Protection

As a Senior Software Engineer on the AirCover Claim Platform team, you will:

• Play a pivotal role in building and advancing the platform that powers comprehensive protection for Airbnb’s hosts, guests, and agents.
• Help shape the technical vision and deliver flexible, scalable solutions that enhance efficiency and improve experiences across our global community.
• Take on complex challenges and drive projects that deliver measurable improvements for our users and create significant business value.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software development experience, or 5+ years with an advanced degree.
• Proficiency in one or more backend languages and frameworks such as Kotlin, Java, or Python.
• Experience architecting and building solutions to large-scale, complex problems, including APIs, data pipelines, and integrations across multiple teams with significant impact.
• Comfortable working across the backend stack to solve technical challenges.
• Strong communication skills; able to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams with design, product, data science, and research partners.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

Requirements

• Collaborate with cross-functional partners such as Product, Operations, and Engineers to design and deliver high-quality products.
• Work closely with engineers on the team to develop core backend and platform solutions.
• Architect and implement complex features with a focus on reliability, performance, and scalability.
• Drive systemic improvements by identifying patterns to streamline development, reduce toil and increase technical quality and operational excellence over time.
• Lead and participate in design reviews, code walkthroughs, and knowledge-sharing sessions to mentor others and foster continuous learning.

Benefits

• Base pay range: $191,000 — $223,000 USD.
• This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
