Salary: $155,000-$165,000
Work location: Remote. Candidates must be local to the DC area in case of on-site meetings in Rockville, Maryland.
The Security Engineering Lead oversees the design, implementation, and continuous enhancement of an organization’s security architecture across endpoints, networks, cloud environments, and enterprise services. This role drives the development and integration of security controls, collaborates closely with operations and monitoring teams to support incident response and remediation, and ensures systems meet evolving regulatory, policy, and cybersecurity framework requirements. The Security Engineering Lead performs advanced engineering analysis, supports vulnerability and POA&M remediation, contributes to Zero Trust and modernization initiatives, and provides Tier 3 expertise to resolve complex security issues. The position also guides cross-functional stakeholders, maintains documentation and security standards, and ensures that security practices remain aligned with industry best practices and organizational risk posture.
Requirements
- US Citizenship required
- In-depth knowledge of information security operations, solutions and technologies including experience in design, implementation, operations and maintenance of information security systems and technical solutions.
- Knowledge of best practices for security architecture and security engineering.
- Hands-on administrative and operational experience with seven or more of the following technologies or skill areas:
Endpoint Security and Advanced Threat Protection
Application Security
DLP System Administration
DNSSEC Administration
Email Security
Encryption
Firewall Management
Intrusion Prevention/Detection System Administration
Log Analysis
Network Access Control and Authorization

- A high-level of experience and skill relevant to the role
- Strong project management skills; experience in organizing, planning, and executing large-scale projects from the envisioning stage through to implementation, involving internal personnel, Contractors, and vendors; ability to analyze project needs and determine resources needed to meet objectives in a fast paced, high pressure and relatively complex technical environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with all management levels
- High standards of respect for individuals, excellence, and service to the customer
Clearance Requirement: Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
The salary range for this position depends upon multiple factors including location, the individual's knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, and contract-specific budget constraints and organizational requirements.
