JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The Department of Food Science is looking to hire a part-time instructor for the 2026 Better Process Control School Short Course which is to be held remotely April 20-21, 23-24, and 27-28. See below for more details on the course and the responsibilities.
The course will be presented remotely via Zoom primarily as ½ day morning sessions.
Session 1 = Acidified Foods April 20-21, 2026.
Session 2 = Acidified Foods and Low Acid Canned Foods April 20-21, 23-24, & 27-28, 2026.
Quizzes for each lecture are taken by participants and graded automatically using Qualtrics software.

Course Director responsibilities
- Work with Conferences and Short Course (CSCO) office to modify as needed course information and registration web site.
- Monitor for pre-course questions and refer contact information to CSCO for marketing efforts.
- Develop PowerPoint slide set used throughout the course for presenting agenda, quiz instructions, and introduction of each speaker
- Present three lectures 1) Introduction and Federal Regulations, 2) introduction to Thermal Processing, 3) Mild Thermal Processes
- Monitor speaker sessions for submitted questions from participants.
BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES
Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.
