Job Description
Koinonia Family Services is seeking qualified individuals to join our team as part-time Adoption Social Workers for our Private Adoption Program. This is a remote position, typically requiring travel to provide services within 2+ hours of various service areas throughout the state of California, including Placer County, Sacramento County, San Francisco County, Stanislaus County, Kern County, San Diego County, and Ventura County.

The hours are flexible based on availability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive to meet families to provide in-person services, which may include a service area of two or more hours.
- Complete adoption home studies in accordance with Structured Analysis Family Evaluation (SAFE) and agency standards.
- When time allows and when needed, assist the local Foster Family Agency (FFA) offices with Resource Family Approval (RFA) assessments.
- Conduct clinical assessments for prospective adoptive individuals and couples, as well as for stepparents desiring to adopt (if licensed) or legal guardians.
- Provide professional training, preparation, and support to adoptive families.
- Offer post-placement supervision, including in-home visits and written reports.
- If in agreement to do so, deliver birth parent support services, including adoption counseling, emotional support, and facilitating the legal advisement and relinquishment processes.
- Maintain accurate and confidential case records and documentation.
- Participate in supervision and team meetings as required.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) or closely related behavioral science field
- Experience in the field of foster care and/or adoption
- Structured Analysis Family Evaluation (SAFE) trained
- Knowledge of Community Care Licensing adoption regulations and adoption program practices
- Excellent assessment, counseling, and case management skills
- Ability to work independently with strong organizational and time management abilities
- Valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance

Qualified candidates must complete a criminal background clearance through the California Department of Justice and FBI to ensure eligibility for employment, as well as a pre-employment physical and TB test.
This position requires a valid driver’s license, auto insurance and reliable transportation as driving is an essential job function. Social Workers are responsible for tasks such as attending in-person meetings, and engaging with community partners, often in locations not easily accessible by alternative transportation methods. The nature of these responsibilities necessitates the ability to drive to ensure timely, reliable, confidential and effective support for the youth and families we serve.
