Purpose
The Regional Field Technician independently performs diagnostics and repairs on equipment at customer locations within an assigned territory, using a mobile service vehicle. This role requires a strong work ethic, efficiency, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. As an on-site representative of the dealership, the technician provides reliable service solutions and maintains professional, clear communication with customers to explain the work being performed.
This candidate will work remotely, covering Mclean, Sheridan, Wells, and Kidder counties.
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics and repairs on John Deere equipment and technology.
- Performs diagnostics and repairs in the field as required.
- Maintains accurate inventory of parts and special tools kept in stock on service vehicle.
- Identify and communicate solutions for customer service opportunities in area of responsibility.
- Accountable for billable time and assigned work orders.
- Responsible for complete and thorough documentation of diagnostics and repairs performed on work orders and on time submittal of information.
- May participate in Service EDUCATE Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge.
- Operates and maintains vehicles, tools and equipment required to perform job responsibilities.
- Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.
- Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
Experience, Education, Skills, and Knowledge
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of service repair experience, with a strong history of meeting performance metrics.
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.
- Technical Expertise: Proficient in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in off-road, construction, lawn, or heavy equipment; familiar with computer-based diagnostic tools like Service ADVISOR™.
- Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills for customer interactions and team collaboration.
- Tools & Equipment: Must have an adequate toolset for diagnostics and repairs; experience with diagnostic equipment and vehicles required.
