Job Description
We are building the world’s largest EV-centric Virtual Power Plant (VPP). By connecting to vehicles, chargers, batteries, solar inverters, and other Distributed Energy Resources, we turn households into flexible grid assets that balance supply and demand, preventing blackouts and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
We are scaling rapidly across North America and Europe. We are moving fast, we are AI-first, and we are looking for builders who want to power the grid of the future.
The opportunity
We are looking for an Email & Lifecycle Marketing Manager to join our User Growth team. The purpose of this role is to own our acquisition messaging channels end-to-end. This is a high-impact individual contributor sitting within our D2C user acquisition engine, reporting to the Head of User Growth.
You’ll be responsible for the strategy, operations, and execution of email, push, in-app messaging, and SMS that generate end user enrolments onto our VPP platform. The role is acquisition-focused, you’ll own our messaging channels through the point of new user conversion.
You're an email marketing expert who knows your way around push, IAM, and SMS — equally comfortable in the weeds of multi-touch campaign orchestration and zooming out to shape a strategic roadmap. You bring structure, lean into the data, and know how to turn insights into better-performing strategies and tactics.
Partnering with our Driver Experience product team, who lead user retention and engagement, you will also be responsible for deploying our proven in-life communications framework for new program launches.
Experience: 5+ years in email, lifecycle or CRM marketing roles.
Key skills:
Proven experience owning email strategy and execution — not just executing someone else's playbook
Hands-on experience with Braze strongly preferred; comparable platforms (Iterable, Klaviyo, Salesforce Marketing Cloud) welcomed
Strong campaign orchestration skills — you've built complex nurture journeys, not just batch-and-blast email
Comfort with experimentation: you know how to structure a test, read results, and act on them
Sharp analytical skills and experience analyzing channel performance reports
Other abilities & qualities:
High attention to detail and strong organizational instincts — you're the person who catches the broken link before it sends to 20k users
Bonus: email design skills (HTML or creative) a plus
Strategy & roadmap
Lead our email-first messaging strategy across push, in-app, and SMS — and own the roadmap for initiatives across these channels
Partner with Product, data, and designers to plan and deliver on that roadmap
Define and continuously refine our approach to acquisition communications, from first touch through enrolment conversion
Campaign execution & orchestration
Build, launch, and optimize multi-touch nurture and drip series primarily in email, with supporting touchpoints across push notifications, in-app messages, and SMS
Execute one-time campaigns and promotional sends with precision and quality
Manage our customer communications calendar and maintain a clear, organized intake and delivery process for internal and client requests
Support new program launch communications as-needed
Experimentation & performance
Design and run A/B and multivariate tests across subject lines, content, send timing, segmentation, journey logic, etc.
Build and maintain reporting on channel performance (ex. deliverability, open rates, clicks, conversions) and surface insights to stakeholders in a clear, actionable way
Use performance analytics to inform and continuously evolve strategy
The salary range for this role is circa $83,300 depending on experience.
Key benefits include:
- Equity, in the form of share options (granted as a % of your salary)
- Healthcare options (provided by Cigna & Guardian)
- Co-working access via WeWork (on-demand or subscription)
- Annual 'Team Week' whole company offsite
- L&D allowance of $1,300 per year
Location & how we work
The majority of people at ev.energy works on a fully remote basis, with a small number of roles based on-site in our testing sites. This role is fully remote in the US.
This means that most of our people work from home, but we're happy to provide co-working subscriptions if you'd like to spend time at a WeWork (or other co-working space close to you).
We balance our remote set up by getting everyone together once a year for an offsite, as we know that spending time together IRL is super important.
We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity: we do not discriminate based on race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status or disability status. If you'd like a copy of our DE&I policy you can reach us at hiring@ev.energy. We'll always do our best to accommodate reasonable adjustments to the interview process if needed - just let us know.
