Role Description

We are seeking an experienced Oil & Gas Accountant to support our clients on a project basis. This role is ideal for an independent contractor with 7+ years of oil and gas accounting experience, particularly supporting exploration and production (E&P) operators.

This role will support core upstream accounting functions including:

  • Joint Interest Billing (JIB)
  • Revenue accounting
  • Production accounting coordination
  • General upstream financial processes

The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, system proficiency, and the ability to work independently in a remote, project-driven environment.

You’ll work as a 1099 contractor, managing your schedule and deliverables independently while collaborating with client and EPC teams to meet project goals.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of oil and gas accounting experience, preferably supporting E&P operators
  • Strong experience with Joint Interest Billing (JIB), revenue accounting, and upstream accounting processes
  • Familiarity with production accounting coordination and upstream financial workflows
  • Proficiency with oil and gas accounting systems, such as SAP, Quorum ODA, or similar upstream platforms
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment with strong time management and accountability
  • Highly responsive and proactive in both internal and client-facing communications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt quickly to different client systems, processes, and project needs

Requirements

  • Perform and support Joint Interest Billing (JIB) processes including billing preparation, review, and partner inquiries
  • Support revenue accounting functions, including revenue allocations, owner distributions, and reconciliation processes
  • Work with production data and accounting teams to validate volumes and ensure accurate revenue and expense allocations
  • Review and reconcile working interest owner balances and joint venture accounts
  • Assist with month-end and quarter-end close activities related to upstream accounting functions
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, partner questions, and account variances
  • Maintain accurate, organized, and audit-ready financial records
  • Collaborate with client and EPC teams to meet project milestones and reporting deadlines

Benefits

  • Consistent Work for Top Performers: We maintain a steady stream of project opportunities for high-performing contractors. If you deliver great work, we’ll keep you working.
  • Strong Industry Relationships: We’re trusted by respected operators across the oil & gas industry, bringing you into projects that value accuracy, expertise, and clarity.
  • Work with the Best: Our team is made up of deeply experienced professionals who hold themselves to a high standard. You’ll collaborate with people who care about quality and integrity.
  • Great People, Great Projects: We work with the best clients and contractors in the business. You'll be part of a respectful, collaborative, and professional work environment.
  • Competitive Pay: Compensation is based on the scope of work and deliverables, ensuring alignment with project value.
