Job Description
Role Description
We are looking for a Satellite Program Manager who will lead the development of our satellite mission from concept through design, development, integration, launch preparation and early operations. This role is responsible for transforming a long-term system vision into a structured and executable engineering program. The ideal candidate is comfortable operating in complex technical environments, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and ensuring progress across multi-year programs despite uncertainty and evolving constraints.
You will work closely with engineering teams, leadership, and external partners to ensure that the satellite program is delivered on time, within scope and aligned with mission objectives.
- Owning the end-to-end satellite program from early concept and feasibility through development, integration, testing, launch preparation and early orbit operations.
- Translating company strategy into a structured multi-year satellite program roadmap.
- Leading major system and mission reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, ORR) and ensuring closure of actions before progressing to the next program phase.
- Planning and managing program scope, schedule, risks, dependencies and budget across all phases of the mission lifecycle.
- Ensuring alignment between technical architecture, program milestones, verification activities and mission requirements.
- Coordinating internal engineering teams and external partners, including suppliers, launch providers and ground segment teams.
- Maintaining the requirements and verification framework, ensuring that each technical requirement has a defined verification method.
- Identifying and mitigating technical, organizational and schedule risks, supporting informed decision-making under uncertainty.
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory, licensing and space safety requirements, including export control and debris mitigation.
- Communicating program progress, risks and decisions to executive stakeholders and acting as the primary program point of contact.
- Preparing the organization for launch readiness and operational handover to routine mission operations.
Qualifications
- At least 6+ years of experience leading complex technical programs, preferably in satellite, aerospace, defense, robotics or other advanced engineering environments.
- Hands-on experience with satellite or space systems, such as system architecture, requirements engineering, subsystem interfaces or system integration.
- Proven experience managing multi-year, multidisciplinary programs involving both hardware and software components.
- Strong ability to structure ambiguity and translate high-level concepts into executable engineering plans.
- Experience coordinating highly specialized engineering teams and external partners.
- Solid understanding of systems engineering principles and mission lifecycle processes.
- Strong program management skills including planning, risk management, and milestone tracking.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills with the ability to work with both technical teams and executive stakeholders.
- Fluency in English and one other European language (i.e. German, French, Spanish, Italian).
- MSc degree in engineering, physics, space systems, or related fields.
Nice to have
- Direct participation in satellite or space mission development programs.
- Experience working with launch providers, suppliers or research institutions.
- Experience building new programs from the concept phase rather than taking over existing ones.
- Background in grant-funded or publicly financed technology programs.
Benefits
- Remote‑first culture – work from anywhere you feel most productive. Our offices in Bydgoszcz and Zielonka are available, but the choice is yours.
- Flexible working hours – shape your schedule to fit your life and your flow.
- Competitive compensation – EUR 48–53 net/hour (B2B) or EUR 6,500–7,500 gross/month (employment contract). Please note that final compensation may vary depending on the candidate’s location and qualifications.
- A role in a rapidly growing Space‑tech company – contribute to projects that push boundaries and shape the future of the space industry.
- Thoughtful onboarding and continuous growth – we support you from day one, with structured onboarding and ongoing development opportunities.
- Health & wellness benefits – private medical care and a sports package to help you stay energized and well (refers to candidates based in Poland).
