Role Description

We are looking for an experienced, driven Energy Analyst to join our global team. This role focuses on analyzing how the rapid growth of AI and datacenter infrastructure is reshaping the American energy system — from power generation and transmission to interconnection, regulation, and emerging energy technologies.

As an Analyst, you will lead and contribute to in-depth, forward-looking research that informs the world’s largest asset managers, energy companies, and infrastructure investors. You will uncover emerging market trends, evaluate grid constraints, track power supply developments, and assess how new energy technologies are enabling the next wave of AI infrastructure. Your insights will directly guide strategic decisions across the energy and AI ecosystem.

This is a full-time, remote position. Candidates must be based in a European time zone or Eastern time zone, with a minimum of 2–5 years of relevant experience, ideally in equity research, energy analysis, or investment research.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze how GenAI and datacenter infrastructure are impacting the American energy system.
  • Build on SemiAnalysis’ industry-leading tracking of 150+ AI chips and 5,000+ datacenters to assess power demand and regional constraints.
  • Research power plants, interconnection queues, utilities, IPPs, ISOs, and PUCs to understand how future AI datacenters are securing energy supply.
  • Evaluate transmission constraints and their impact on utilities, grid operators, and electrical equipment suppliers.
  • Contribute to SemiAnalysis’ forward-looking research on batteries, solar, fuel cells, SMRs, and other technologies powering the future of AI.
  • Produce high-impact research reports, forecasts, and briefings for institutional clients using public and proprietary data.
  • Collaborate with semiconductor, datacenter, and AI infrastructure analysts to generate cross-sector insights.
  • Support hedge funds, infrastructure investors, hyperscalers, and policymakers with bespoke energy and power market analysis.
  • Present research findings to senior leadership teams and participate in client calls and conference presentations.

Qualifications

  • 2–5+ years of professional experience in equity research, energy analysis, investment research, or a related strategy role.
  • Strong understanding of the U.S. power system, including generation, transmission, interconnection, utilities, IPPs, ISOs, and regulatory bodies.
  • Experience analyzing energy markets, infrastructure investment, and grid constraints.
  • Deep interest in how AI and compute infrastructure are transforming the energy landscape.
  • Proven ability to synthesize complex technical, regulatory, and market data into actionable insights.
  • Exceptional writing and presentation skills, with experience producing research reports, investment memos, or market primers.
  • Proficiency in Excel; experience with data visualization and/or scripting (Python, SQL, etc.) is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-moving, globally distributed team.
