Role Description

The Human Services Surveyor position conducts annual on-site visits to licensed childcare providers to assure regulatory compliance.

  • Conduct unannounced inspections for licensed, certified, and registered providers for compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Perform a thorough review of children and staff files.
  • Review policies and procedures.
  • Inspect facility buildings and their contents.
  • Require regional travel with some over-nights.
  • Interview staff and collaterals as part of the investigative process.
  • Write reports with proper grammatical usage.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • Two years of professional experience in emergency medical services, a health/human services program, or two years of experience in inspection/investigative work or a combination of both or a related field.
  • Additional professional training in health services, human services, social work, or a related field will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Additional experience in the above fields, or a related field, will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.

  • Ability to interpret and apply Kentucky Statutes and Regulations.
  • Computer skills to include, but not limited to- Outlook, Excel, Word, Adobe, and internet-based software.
  • Ability to work under pressure with time restraints.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Organization and time management skills.
  • Experience with large caseloads.
