Role Description

This internship program will provide an enriching and rewarding experience for students interested in writing, editing, communications, and marketing.

  • Schedule management of AFSP’s Real Stories Blog
  • Evaluating and editing blog article submissions
  • Copyediting and writing assignments, which may include web copy, emails, program guides, flyers, and other materials
  • Providing additional administrative support
  • Attending weekly meetings and brainstorming sessions
  • Learning about the communications field and building networking skills
  • Discussing career planning

Qualifications

  • Excellent writing, communications, and interpersonal skills (basic knowledge of AP Style is a plus)
  • Excellent computer skills and demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated leadership and an interest in communications and marketing via coursework or extracurricular activity
  • Interest or passion for working in the non-profit field

Requirements

  • Part-time or full-time college student (undergraduate or graduate student)
  • Residents of the New York Tri-State area (New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut)
  • Available to work 3 days per week; an average of 20-30 hours (Monday – Friday)

Benefits

  • This is an unpaid position. Interns will receive a stipend of $500 monthly.
  • Must be currently enrolled in a degree program and will receive college credit to be eligible for this internship.
