Role Description

C2’s client is looking to bring in a contract Website Developer to help in the team's mission to provide resources, spaces, and technology that encourage both individual and collective expression.

This is a complex, senior-level role for a technical partner who will architect, implement, and harmonize a mobile-first web ecosystem spanning multiple related sites. The work extends far beyond stand-alone builds:

  • Design, connect, and maintain a scalable cross-site architecture.
  • Empower non-technical contributors.
  • Ensure strong SEO.
  • Enable secure artist self-service.
  • Position the ecosystem for future monetization, white-label, and traffic orchestration.

You will collaborate closely with the founder to ensure that all platforms, brands, and user experiences work together seamlessly, including moving the client's platform long-term vision.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional web development experience (front-end or full-stack).
  • Advanced front-end development skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and expert mobile-first/responsive practices.
  • Demonstrated experience with WordPress Multisite and/or headless CMS platforms; strong comfort evaluating no-code/low-code options where appropriate.
  • Ability to architect seamless cross-site integrations, manage hosting/DNS, and balance flexibility with security and scalability.
  • Deep understanding of SEO, metadata, site structure, and performance optimization across multi-site environments.
  • Experience turning Photoshop, Figma, or Sketch files into scalable web builds.
  • Strong communicator and collaborator with the ability to translate technical decisions for creative stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Evaluate the current landscape for all sites to recommend and implement the best long-term CMS/website architecture (e.g., WordPress Multisite, headless CMS, or low/no-code solutions where feasible).
  • Architect and implement a high-performance, mobile-first multi-site system that drives traffic from sites throughout the ecosystem and allows future expansion, templates, and artist self-service.
  • Translate Photoshop (and possibly Figma/Sketch) designs into responsive and accessible production-ready builds.
  • Build and maintain reusable templates for artist and brand onboarding, enabling rapid deployment and ease-of-use.
  • Implement advanced SEO best practices across all sites, focusing on intelligent linking, metadata, site structure, and performance.
  • Configure and manage hosting, DNS, and registrar setups across sites, ensuring security, maintainability, and reliable cross-site user experience.
  • Develop user permissions, training materials, and support documentation for non-technical users.
  • Advise on scalability, white-label, and monetization strategies as the ecosystem grows.
  • Collaborate closely with founder, providing clear technical guidance, creative input, and support for both ongoing needs and visionary road mapping.

Benefits

  • All C2 talent working 30+ hours/week for 30 days are eligible for medical, dental, optional vision, life insurance, 401(k) with match, and PTO accrual.
  • Compensation: Commensurate with experience, estimating $45-$60/hr. as W2 employee of C2.
  • Talent must provide their own hardware and software.
