Job Description
Role Description
The Vice President of Sales will have personal responsibility for the higher volume customers and members of the Sales Leadership Team (Directors, Regional Sales Managers, etc.) including but not limited to:
- Prioritizes people and broker management.
- Makes meaningful time investments in selecting, developing, training, and managing the performance of people on the Sales Team.
- Responsible for maximizing the potential sales volume, and planning and directing sales force activities to maximize profit from all segments of the market, creating and communicating programs to respective regional teams for execution.
- Partners cross-functionally with the Marketing, Finance, and Supply Chain teams to establish and implement successful customer programs that profitably increase product availability and points of distribution.
- Achieves and delivers annual plans for the customer base that reflect the agreed-upon brand/customer strategies and supply delivery of business goals.
- Monitor and manage Sales performance by leveraging customer analytical systems.
- Translate business strategy into clear and locally executable plans and focus resources accordingly within their respective customers.
- Understands the dynamics of each respective customer and provides insight and direction to develop solutions that promote and build the brand.
- Supports the execution and management of budgets, sales expenses, T&E, and reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field (required)
- 10+ years’ CPG experience with at least 5 years in a leadership position
Requirements
- Assertive/demonstrates courage; ability to effectively negotiate and influence others
- Strong communication skills: ability to effectively communicate with a variety of audiences
- Organization; able to set and meet deadlines, and multi-task in fast-paced environments
- Presentation skills; ability to use data for fact-based selling, on a personal and team level
- Extremely organized, dependable, and self-motivated
- Leadership; able to acquire, manage, mentor, and lead a team of Sales Managers
- Strong computer skills; specific knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
- Up to 70% travel as needed by land and/or air, inclusive of some nights & weekends
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive a motor vehicle
- Experience working with distributors that have both national and regional coverage
- Natural food, conventional grocery, club, mass, drug and/or beverage industry experience (preferred)
- Experience in natural food and beverage industry (preferred)
