Role Description

Are you a passionate basketball enthusiast with a knack for storytelling? MADE Hoops is seeking talented freelance writers to join our team and help us tell the stories of the next generation of basketball stars. We are looking for individuals who can capture the excitement and essence of grassroots basketball, from rising prospects to thrilling tournaments.

While this role is remote, we are prioritizing candidates based on the West Coast and in the Midwest to better cover specific regional markets and time zones.

• Cover grassroots basketball events, tournaments, and showcases.
• Write engaging articles, features, player profiles, and game recaps.
• Conduct interviews with players, coaches, and event organizers.
• Provide insightful analysis and commentary on player performance and team dynamics.
• Adhere to editorial guidelines and deadlines.
• Collaborate with the editorial team to pitch and develop story ideas.

Qualifications

• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Deep knowledge and passion for grassroots basketball, including players, teams, and events.
• Ability to produce high-quality, original content under tight deadlines.
• Excellent research and interview skills.
• Familiarity with digital publishing platforms and SEO best practices is a plus.
• Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently.
• Prior experience in sports journalism or content creation is preferred but not required.

Requirements

• This is a freelance, project-based position with competitive rates.
• Writers will have the opportunity to cover exciting events and gain exposure within the grassroots basketball community.
• We pay on a per-article rate (rate dependent upon experience).
