What is The Role
The Social-First Designer will develop visually compelling content designed specifically for social platforms, helping bring Elastic’s brand and content to life in fast paced, highly engaging formats. This role will partner closely with the social, developer community team, and other creative members to translate content into clear, platform-native creative that resonates with its audiences.
Success in this role requires strong design instincts, an understanding of how content performs across social platforms, and the ability to move quickly while maintaining high design standards across the Elastic brand ecosystem.
What You Will Be Doing
- Create social-first visual content across platforms such as LinkedIn, YouTube, X, and emerging channels, producing assets including social graphics, thumbnails, light motion elements.
- Translate marketing, developer, and product concepts into engaging visual content that supports launches, tech blogs, and ongoing storytelling.
- Partner closely with the social media team, DevRel, marketing partners, and creative teams to develop creative aligned with brand standards.
- Adapt and extend Elastic’s design system for social environments, ensuring content remains visually consistent while optimized for speed, clarity, and platform behavior.
- Produce and iterate quickly on social assets to support real-time content, ongoing campaigns, and timely announcements.
- Monitor social design trends and emerging formats to help evolve Elastic’s visual presence across social platforms.
What You Bring
- Experience creating social-first design work in an in-house creative team, marketing organization, or agency environment, with a portfolio demonstrating strong social and digital content.
- A strong portfolio showcasing illustration, campaigns, and digital work that balances creativity with clarity and purpose.
- Strong illustration skills and the ability to translate conceptual ideas into scalable, on-brand visual assets.
- A strong sense of visual storytelling and an understanding of how design performs across different social platforms.
- Experience designing across a variety of formats including static graphics, light motion visuals, thumbnails, and blog images.
- Ability to translate complex technical topics into accessible and visually engaging content that resonates with developer and technical audiences.
- Strong collaboration skills and comfort working closely with social teams, marketers, and content creators in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in modern design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and motion or video tools commonly used for social content.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining quality and brand consistency.
Bonus Points
- Experience with animation/video production process. Working with writers to develop storyboards.
- After Effects: You enjoy bringing stories to life with animation. Maybe just fun, animated gifs. It’s all good.
Compensation for this role is in the form of base salary. This role does not have a variable compensation component.
The typical starting salary range for new hires in this role is listed below. In select locations (including Seattle WA, Los Angeles CA, the San Francisco Bay Area CA, and the New York City Metro Area), an alternate range may apply as specified below.
These ranges represent the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the ranges may be modified in the future.
An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
Elastic believes that employees should have the opportunity to share in the value that we create together for our shareholders. Therefore, in addition to cash compensation, this role is currently eligible to participate in Elastic's stock program.
