SUMMARY: Lead the re-platforming and build-out of an internal KVM-based virtualization environment on new UCS hardware in the Ashburn data center. Integrate OpenStack and open-source automation tools to support the migration of workloads from legacy datacenter, ensuring robust, scalable, and automated infrastructure.
HIERARCHY: Will report to the Service Delivery Manager
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Tear down and rebuild existing ESX-based UCS blade environment, transitioning to KVM virtualization.
- Design and implement an OpenStack platform for internal use, considering open-source alternatives to OpenShift due to current challenges.
- Integrate SAN and NetApp storage solutions into the new platform, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Deploy and configure open-source automation tools (e.g., Ansible) for infrastructure management and orchestration.
- Collaborate with internal staff (including offshore resources) and provide technical leadership and mentorship as needed.
- Work closely with network architects and storage teams to ensure seamless integration and operation.
- Document architecture, configuration, and operational procedures for the new environment.
- Support ongoing platform enhancements and troubleshooting.

- Strong background in UCS hardware, SAN, and NetApp storage integration.
- Proficiency with open-source automation tools (e.g., Ansible).
