Role Description

The Wind Global Investigation and Learning and Emergency Response Lead is responsible for supporting EHS specifically in the areas of event reporting, investigation, and learning activities including Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and 5 why methodologies. Additionally, the role will support basic business continuity and emergency/event response programs. The role will report to the Wind Global Operations and Center of Excellence EHS Leader and will be responsible for driving excellence across the organization regarding developing consistent and standard event learning and emergency response programs and expectations.

This position will also be partnering cross functionally, with both internal and external stakeholders, to ensure all aspects of event learning and emergency response safety programs are both implemented and actively utilized to drive sustainable improvement both in the Wind organization and GE Vernova. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Integrating learnings and best practices to the Wind Event Management Policy
  • Providing coaching and mentoring for investigation and learning programs
  • Working with internal and external partners on learning trends and action plans
  • Performing field audits and verifications
  • Reviewing data and trends related to EHS incident performance KPIs

The role also requires oversight of the Emergency Response and Business Continuity structure for One Wind which includes:

  • Working with internal stakeholders on response team structures
  • Verifying drills and training activities for emergency activities are robust and in compliance
  • Providing guidance on industry best practices
  • Integrating the GE Vernova emergency and crisis response requirements in the Wind organization

Finally, this role will also provide input and support the wider Wind EHS team as we work to build one successful GE Vernova team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or technical equivalent from an accredited college or university, or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a trained investigator/program lead
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting business continuity and emergency response programs

Requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 25-30% of the time
  • Remote (Globally) and/or Schenectady, NY or Greenville, SC

Desired Characteristics

  • Certified Health and Safety professional
  • Experience investigator in RCA and 5 why methodologies including investigation digital tools and platforms
  • Experience with FM Global programs and other associated emergency response reviews
  • Prior experience in Wind industry and/or energy industry fields
  • Significant experience and demonstrated achievements with safety programs, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Medical fitness and ability to work at height per local and global standards
  • Knowledge of EHS management systems
  • Fluent English with strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Experience working in or across different GE Vernova businesses
  • Able to coach and support key influencers to drive EHS compliance and the reduction of risk through team engagement and help develop an organizational culture that prioritizes EHS
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple issues with competing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, motivate and drive change and interact cross-functionally
  • Confidently able to facilitate and deliver training and or presentations to a diverse audience
  • Ability to influence and motivate diverse teams to achieve a unified goal
  • Field experience in a project/services environment, practical experience in risk management
  • High energy, self-starter
  • Related EHS expertise outside of primary responsibility, for example, Industrial Hygiene, or Environmental expertise
  • Trained to Global Wind Organization (GWO) basic safety standard
  • Additional language skills
