About the role:

Samsara is looking for a Staff Mobile Engineer to join our Mobile Platform team. This team builds the foundational frameworks and architectures that enable over 20 engineering teams to efficiently develop our Driver and Fleet applications, which serve millions of daily users. You will be instrumental in building the scalable mobile platform infrastructure that supports our high-availability applications, directly influencing the development velocity and technical capabilities of our entire mobile engineering organization.

This is a remote position open to candidates residing in the US and Canada

• Design and build scalable mobile platform infrastructure supporting high-availability applications.
• Create foundational frameworks that enable efficient development across 20-25 engineering teams.
• Optimize performance for diverse device types, including low-end Android devices.
• Architect solutions for large-scale consumer mobile applications serving various industries.
• Lead technical initiatives to reduce complexity and improve developer productivity.
• Champion, role model, and embed Samsara's cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.

Minimum requirements for the role:

• Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of mobile development related experience.
• Extensive experience with large-scale consumer mobile applications.
• Proven track record building platform-level mobile infrastructure and frameworks serving millions of customers daily.
• Strong expertise in mobile performance optimization and scalability.
• Experience supporting multiple engineering teams through platform solutions.
• Deep understanding of mobile architecture patterns and best practices.

An ideal candidate also has:

• React Native experience (our apps are primarily React Native-based).
• Experience with cross-platform mobile development.
• A blend of experience from both fast-paced startup/entrepreneurial environments and large-scale big tech companies..
• A track record of technical leadership in fast-growing companies.

The range of annual base salary for full-time employees for this position is below. Please note that base pay offered may vary depending on factors including your city of residence, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This role is also eligible for an initial RSU grant with no vesting cliff, and ongoing refresh opportunities tied to performance, subject to plan terms and conditions. $162,400—$290,000 USD
