Job Description
Position Overview
The University of Pittsburgh is seeking Community Scientists to join a research study examining attitudes and norms related to reproductive health and reproductive healthcare access in Pennsylvania. Community Scientists play a vital role in helping the study team understand how reproductive health is discussed and experienced in everyday community settings. This position is designed for individuals who have strong connections within their communities and who can approach conversations and observations in an impartial, respectful, and nonjudgmental manner. The position is temporary and tied to grant funding. Candidates will be expected to attend trainings and meetings over Zoom. As such, they should have easy access to wifi and a computer with a camera.
Training
Community Scientists will complete structured training through the University of Pittsburgh prior to beginning data collection. Training includes:
· Certification in Community Partner Research Ethics Training (CPRET)
· A three-part training series in the qualitative observational methodology
The study team will provide ongoing guidance and support throughout the project.
Key Responsibilities
· Participate in all required virtual trainings
· Conduct qualitative observational research relevant to reproductive health and reproductive healthcare, including detailed description and reflexive observation
· Meet regularly with the study team for support, feedback, and methodological guidance
· Submit journal entries according to study timelines
What Community Scientists Gain

Additional Information
· This is a temporary, part-time position lasting 7 months
