Job Description

Vice President of Engineering

Full-Time | Remote

Position Overview

Join Ceresti as Vice President of Engineering and lead the execution, delivery, and operational health of our engineering organization. You will build and scale a high-performing engineering function, ensuring our teams can deliver innovative, reliable, and compliant solutions that advance our mission to reduce avoidable hospitalizations and empower family caregivers of people living with dementia.

As a key member of the executive team, you will partner closely with the CTO, who sets the technical vision and architecture, as well as the CEO, product management and cross-functional leaders. Your focus will be on translating that technical vision into execution plans, building the teams to deliver on them, and running the engineering organization with operational excellence. This role demands strong people leadership across multiple layers, disciplined execution, and a commitment to building a culture of impact, agility, and compassionate innovation.

About Ceresti

Ceresti is on a mission to reduce avoidable hospitalizations and improve care for people living with dementia while improving the lives of their families and caregivers. We envision a world in which family caregivers of people living with dementia are supported and have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to provide the best possible care for their loved ones.

Ceresti is a tech-enabled dementia care provider with a differentiated model of care that improves outcomes and delivers guaranteed cost savings by including family caregivers in the care team. We offer health plans and accountable care organizations a turnkey solution for impacting a population that has limited engagement in traditional clinical programs.

Our culture is rooted in agility, innovation, and collaboration. We believe that every idea—no matter how small—can spark a meaningful improvement. Together, we create solutions that make a lasting impact on the healthcare ecosystem, enabling more compassionate and cost-effective care for those who need it most.

Responsibilities

Executive Partnership & Strategic Execution

  • Partner with the CTO to operationalize the technical vision and ensure the engineering organization can execute against the architecture roadmap, aligning delivery with company growth objectives, healthcare outcomes, and cost-savings guarantees.
  • Serve as the executive voice of engineering execution, influencing company-wide decisions by providing visibility into capacity, timelines, risks, and trade-offs to the board, investors, payers, and partners.
  • Collaborate with the CTO to assess the operational feasibility and resourcing implications of emerging technologies (including AI, LLMs, predictive analytics, and remote monitoring), and drive their adoption across engineering teams.

Organizational Building & People Leadership

  • Build, scale, and lead a high-performing engineering organization, including hiring and developing engineering directors, managers, and individual contributors.
  • Own executive-level talent strategy: define org structure, role requirements, sourcing, interviewing, and succession planning to support rapid growth.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, psychological safety, continuous learning, and inclusion; champion engineering values that align with Ceresti’s mission-driven ethos.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and career development at all levels; conduct executive reviews, compensation planning, and performance management.

Engineering Excellence & Delivery Oversight

  • Ensure engineering teams execute against the technical direction and architectural standards established by the CTO; provide feedback and flag execution risks early.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into engineering plans, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Oversee code quality, code reviews, and engineering best practices across teams.
  • Drive adoption of modern development tools, including AI coding assistants and LLM integrations, to accelerate team productivity.
  • Ensure system reliability, scalability, and security across all engineering initiatives.
  • Stay current with engineering practices, tooling, and delivery methodologies that can improve team velocity and quality.

Operational & Resource Leadership

  • Manage the engineering budget, resource allocation, capacity planning, and vendor relationships.
  • Partner with IT, DevOps, product, clinical, and business teams to ensure robust infrastructure, CI/CD, deployment processes, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Drive adoption of modern tools and practices, including AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude) and LLM integrations (OpenAI, Anthropic), to accelerate productivity and innovation.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • BS/BA degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience); advanced degree (MS, MBA) preferred.

Experience

  • 12+ years of software engineering experience with progressive leadership responsibility.
  • 7+ years in senior engineering leadership roles (e.g., Director/VP level), including building and scaling multi-layer engineering organizations.
  • Proven track record of translating technical strategy into execution plans and delivering results in fast-paced environments, preferably in health-tech, digital health, or SaaS platforms serving complex populations.
  • Strong technical foundation across modern backend technologies, cloud infrastructure, and containerized architectures; ability to engage credibly in architectural discussions and evaluate engineering trade-offs.
  • Familiarity with AI coding assistants and LLM integrations; ability to drive their adoption and measure their impact across engineering teams.
  • Deep experience with Agile methodologies, project/portfolio management, and building high-performing teams.

Skills & Competencies

  • Exceptional executive presence, communication, and influence skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong operational execution and data-driven decision-making; ability to manage budgets, schedules, and cross-team dependencies.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, manage competing priorities, and deliver results in a mission-critical healthcare context.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; experience with conflict resolution and organizational dynamics.
  • Commitment to healthcare compliance (HIPAA, SOC 2, HITRUST) and patient-centered innovation.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in healthcare technology, health-tech startups, or platforms serving seniors, caregivers, or chronic conditions.
  • Familiarity with healthcare compliance frameworks (HIPAA, SOC 2, HITRUST) and value-based care models.
  • Experience building consumer-facing or caregiver-focused digital products.
  • Prior success in CMS-related programs (e.g., GUIDE model) or payer/ACO partnerships.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
  • Equity participation in a growing healthcare technology company.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and executive development.
  • Collaborative and mission-driven work environment.
  • Flexible work arrangements and remote work options.
  • Access to cutting-edge technologies and tools.

Join us to lead the engineering team building technology solutions that empower family caregivers and improve patient care outcomes.
