Description
As a Senior Project Manager, you will be working closely with a team of developers and engineers in an Agile environment for developing innovative solutions for our customers. You are also responsible for planning and overseeing projects to ensure they are completed timely and within budget. Plan and designate project resources, prepare budgets, monitor progress, and keep stakeholders informed the entire way.
What you will do:
- Actively build positive, collaborative relationships with the client to understand the client's business priorities and bring assets and expertise aligned with the priorities.
- Provides servant leadership to the project team. Promote empowerment of the team, ensuring each team member is fully engaged, making a meaningful contribution, and encourage a sustainable pace with high-level quality.
- Facilitate daily stand-ups, sprint demos, retrospectives, sprint planning, and backlog grooming meetings.
- Work with our Director of Programs to facilitate project documentation and project deliverables.
- Act as agile coach adapting teams to agile/scrum methodology using techniques that increase collaboration, predictability, transparency and promote a culture of experimentation and innovation. Use agile methodology values, principles, and practices to plan, manage, and deliver large-scale initiatives, features, and stories in an iterative fashion
- Monitor and manage team goals and performance and ensure the team understands how they align and relate to broader business goals and strategies.
- Deep-dive existing and potential problem areas, develop and communicate corrective action and mitigation plans, and drive follow-through to a successful resolution. Be hands-on when needed to help your team solve problems and get through crunch periods.
- Establish and manage product roadmap. Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques.
- Responsible for overall contract and project cost management. Ensure project remains in scope and within budget through active project budget tracking and burn-down tracking. Work closely with corporate operations and the customer to ensure total expenditures are tracked and costs are managed and communicated through proper change management.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, or a related field
- 5-8 years of project management
- Experience as a federal contractor or employee, specifically with DHS
- Experience with low-code/no-code platforms such as Appian, Salesforce, and ServiceNow.
- Capacity to embrace change and quickly adapt to new situations, changes in direction, and altering priorities
- Ability to clarify the process, brainstorm solutions, and assist in conflict resolution
- Experience using agile performance metrics to drive accountability and continuous improvement
- Experience adapting newly formed teams to scrum and leading their journey through the stages of storming, forming, and norming.
- Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices
- Adept at refinement, story splitting, estimation, velocity, retrospection, and other scrum techniques
- A love to learn and improve as a servant leader, always looking to bring something new and helpful to the team. Embodies the agile principles and leads by example
- Strong knowledge of Scrum theory and agile practices
- PMP certification/PRINCE2 certification (or other certifications acknowledged by organizations such as PMI or APM)
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Excel, Power Point.
- Relevant agile certifications preferred, such as: Certified Scrum Master (CSM), SAFe Scrum Master (SSM)
- Adept at refinement, story splitting, estimation, velocity, retrospection, and other scrum techniques
- A love to learn and improve as a leader, always looking to bring something new and helpful to the team. Embodies the agile principles and leads by example
- Strong knowledge of Scrum theory and agile practices
- PMP certification/PRINCE2 certification (or other certifications acknowledged by organizations such as PMI or APM)
