Role Description
We’re building a documentary-style YouTube channel exploring the craft behind sound, audio, and music - why things sound the way they do, how audio shapes storytelling, and what makes the sonic world so endlessly fascinating.
We’re looking for a YouTube Assistant Video Editor to support our lead editor and gradually grow into owning full 10–20 minute episodes. If you love shaping stories, organizing complex edits, and crafting videos with clear pacing and purpose, you’ll fit right in.
What you’ll do:
- Organize and sync footage in DaVinci Resolve
- Prepare interview timelines and multicam sequences
- Clean, label, and structure project timelines
- Manage media, assets, and project files in Dropbox
- Prepare b-roll and graphics placeholders
- Assist with exports and project organization
As you grow in the role, you will take on:
- Editing story segments from interviews
- Structuring explanations clearly for a general audience
- Integrating b-roll and supporting visuals
- Maintaining pacing and narrative clarity
- Editing full 10–20 minute documentary-style episodes
- Refining rough cuts into polished final edits
- Crafting strong openings for audience retention
- Managing episodes through finishing and final export
- Preparing videos for publishing on YouTube
Working hours are full-time, roughly 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM in your local time zone, with one-hour lunch and at least one hour of overlap with U.S. Central Time.
Qualifications
- Reliable high-speed internet (500 Mbps+ both download and upload speed)
- Strong editing skills in DaVinci Resolve (our entire workflow is built around it)
- Strong sense of pacing, clarity, and narrative structure
- Ability to organize complex editing projects and manage large media files
- Excellent English comprehension
- Ability to work independently and communicate clearly in a remote team
Requirements

- Basic motion graphics or title design (Brownie points)
- Experience with color correction and finishing in Resolve (Brownie points)
- Ability to perform basic audio cleanup (Brownie points)
- Interest in sound, audio production, music, or media craft (Brownie points)
Benefits
- $2000/month*, with the opportunity to increase to $2400/month upon strong performance and transition to the Long-Form Editor role.

- 15 days paid time off (PTO) per year
- 5 paid sick days per year
- Paid U.S. holidays (swap for local holidays if preferred)
- Healthy, sustainable work environment with flexible scheduling
- Opportunity to grow into full long-form editing and take ownership of episodes
