The specialist prioritizes and accurately codes high-dollar, day after discharge, and interim charts using ICD CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on complex medical documentation and official guidelines. Responsibilities also include working claim edits, completing informal peer-reviews, tracking quality information, and communicating with medical staff for documentation clarification.
The DRG Integrity Specialist performs secondary level reviews of medical records and code assignments using Company technology and client systems to ensure accurate DRG assignment in accordance with federal and client guidelines.
