Job Description
• Defend lawsuits filed in California courts and other first-party insurance defense
• Research laws and prepare legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda
• Render opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department
• Prepare and handle pleadings, motions, and discovery, including depositions/examinations before trial and examinations under oath
Job Requirements
- 2-6+ years of experience in litigation experience on insurance/defense/and or personal injury (REQUIRED)
- Juris Doctor degree (REQUIRED)
- Admission to the California Bar (REQUIRED)
- Must be licensed in good standing to practice law in California and maintain licensing requirements, including mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE)
- Must be able to travel as required for trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings, and conferences
- Must document files in a clear, concise, professional manner
- Must follow complex instructions, resolve conflicts, facilitate conflict resolution, and have strong organizational skills
