Job Description

Want to make a difference? Join an organization committed to sharing the hope of true transformation with those impacted by incarceration for nearly 50 years.

Prison Fellowship® is the nation’s largest Christian nonprofit equipping the Church to serve currently and formerly incarcerated people and their families, and to advocate for justice and human dignity. Prison Fellowship and its church partners encounter Jesus with those behind bars, breaking cycles of crime and prayerfully anticipating a revival of justice, mercy, and hope in our culture.

Prison Fellowship® is an organization committed to the highest standards of conduct, ethics and Christian values. Our conduct is guided by and grounded in the Bible, as reflected in our Statement of Faith below.

What we are looking for:

A driven and mission-focused cinematic and social video storyteller with a highly developed eye for composition, movement, light, and emotional tone. This role captures Prison Fellowship’s stories with visual intention and clarity—creating imagery that is powerful, human, and effective across modern digital platforms.

The work documents authentic moments across prisons, churches, reentry communities, advocacy settings, private events, and in public spaces in service of Prison Fellowship’s mission of encountering Jesus with those impacted by incarceration. The role favors modern, creator-style cinematography— prioritizing taste, efficiency, and emotional impact over traditional, crew-heavy production approaches.

Expectations of this role:
  • Capture documentary-style footage with a modern filmmaker’s eye, translating real-world moments into cinematic visuals that carry mood, tension, and meaning
  • Approach each production with a creator's mindset, and operate primarily as a one-person crew, producing polished visuals with minimal setups
  • Own media management from capture to handoff, organize footage, support post-production assembly, and maintain clear documentation
  • Support production needs, collaborate closely with teams while operating independently, and troubleshoot issues when needed
Qualifications:
  • Maintain an active relationship with Jesus Christ and support the ministry through prayer and actions
  • 5+ years of professional cinematography or filmmaking experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Film, Media Production, Communications or equivalent
  • Demonstrated mastery of cinematic composition, visual storytelling, and emotionally compelling imagery
  • Strong command of lighting, exposure, color, depth, motion, and location sound in uncontrolled
    environments
  • Technical fluency with modern capture workflows, including codecs, bitrates, frame rates, and
    color profiles
  • Strong understanding of editing workflows, including how footage is prepared through string-outs
    and rough cuts
  • Demonstrated ability to produce visually beautiful work independently without reliance on large
    crews or complex production setups
  • Comfort working with both cinema and lightweight mirrorless or small-form camera systems
    without compromising quality
  • Comfortable with frequent travel and dynamic schedules, including short-notice shoots and
    variable conditions
  • Highly organized, adaptable, and self-directed
  • Alignment with Prison Fellowship’s Christian mission and Statement of Faith
  • This is a remote/work from home position that requires living within the defined region has a 31-50% travel component, and the driving aspect of this role is subject to certain driving record and insurance requirements

OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH

The Foundation of What We Believe
As a Christian organization, Prison Fellowship believes in the full authority of the Bible as God’s inspired word and the complete tenets of the Apostles’ Creed and the Nicene Creed.

We believe in one God, Creator and Lord of the Universe, the co-eternal Trinity; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ, God’s Son, was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died a substitutionary atoning death on the cross, rose bodily from the dead and ascended to heaven where, as truly God and truly man, He is the only mediator between God and man. We believe that the Bible is God’s authoritative and inspired Word, without error in all its teachings.

How We Are Compelled to Live and to Act
We believe that Christians, both individually and corporately, must submit to the Bible, as God’s authoritative, divine and inspired Word, in all matters of belief and conduct.
