Role Description

Westat has an immediate opening for a Senior Research Associate conducting healthcare analytics, statistical programming, reporting, and task management. The successful candidate will work with a multidisciplinary team on a variety of health services research projects focused on health care delivery, payment, and policy.

While this position is remote eligible, onsite collaboration is highly valued. Preference will be given to local candidates who are able to join colleagues in a Westat office at least one day a week, fostering teamwork and collective engagement.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve in various technical roles using data transformation, ETL, and quantitative research methods for a variety of large, complex projects for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and other federal clients.
  • Independently conduct programming and analysis activities using SQL, Python, Databricks or other statistical packages to ingest, link, clean, create, and manipulate complex datasets.
  • Conduct quantitative analysis, interpret results, and prepare internal and client reports.
  • Provide project management support including preparing progress reports and managing timelines.
  • Communicate quantitative results verbally and in writing for a variety of internal and external audiences.
  • Participate in business development activities, as needed.

Qualifications

  • A master's degree in economics, statistics, public health or a related field and 6+ years of experience working in a healthcare-related field with progressively increasing responsibilities.
  • Experience conducting health services research independently and on multidisciplinary teams.
  • Quantitative analytic expertise using SQL, Python, Databricks or other programming languages.
  • Experience working for federal or state healthcare contracts.

Requirements

  • Experience working on contracts to support the CMS Innovation Center’s implementation and monitoring of alternative payment models.
  • Experience analyzing healthcare claims data.
  • Task leadership experience.
  • Ability to summarize or synthesize information for different audiences and purposes.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to coordinate completion of projects and tasks.
