Job Description

• Investigating, evaluating, and settling property claims within an assigned territory • Conducting timely and thorough investigations • Verifying applicable coverages and analyzing applicable coinsurance and deductible • Estimating damages and evaluating for reserve and settlement • Bringing claims to resolution in accordance with claims best practices • Making prompt, meaningful contact with insureds, witnesses and other parties of interest • Conducting field investigations for assigned claims • Negotiating with contractors or repair facilities regarding the extent of damage and method of repair • Documenting all file activity through detailed file notes and preparing reports for the claim file

Job Requirements

  • 7-10 years claims handling experience
  • College degree preferred
  • Certifications/Designations: AIC, SCLA or Legal Principles, CCLA and PCLA of the AEI series, or CPCU to be completed in 2 years
  • Knowledge of claims best practices
  • Unfair claims practices/bad faith
  • Various lines of policy coverage
  • Knowledge of venue and regulations
  • Basic legal terminology
