Wilson Elser, an AmLaw 100 law firm, seeks a part-time Proposal & Research Specialist to support the firm’s Business Development and Marketing Department with writing, research, and content development. This role is ideal for a professional who enjoys digging into complex topics and crafting compelling narratives that support client development and competitive pursuits. You will work closely with firm attorneys and other Business Development team members to develop proposal documents, custom brochures, and other client-facing materials that highlight the firm’s strengths and successes.

The Position
This is a remote position with flexible hours, offering an opportunity for experienced professionals to apply their skills in a part-time capacity. Candidates should be adaptable, with the ability to multitask on a routine basis. Writing, editing, and research skills are vital, as is the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. A background in marketing, law, journalism, or communications, and familiarity with legal research tools such as LexisNexis, are strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare responses to client Requests for Proposals/Requests for Information (RFP, RFI, RFQ), including developing custom written content and sourcing existing content.
- Research clients, industries, competitors, and casework using internal resources, legal tools (Lexis, Bloomberg Law, etc.), and public sources to support proposal strategy.
- Collaborate with attorneys to identify and summarize their prior casework, as well as develop professional proposals, brochures, and related client materials.
- Craft custom cover letters, executive summaries, and capabilities statements on a proposal-by-proposal basis and update stock marketing materials.
- Coordinate with Business Development and Marketing team members and other firm departments as needed to prepare responses.
- Uphold the firm’s brand standards to ensure a strong brand presence for all marketing deliverables.
- Maintain the department’s project tracker and content and representative matter libraries.
- Other proposal or business development-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, mass communications or related field.
- Experience in a marketing, proposal writing, or research-focused role, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.
- Excellent writing, editing, and research skills.
- Proven ability to manage deadlines and work independently.
- Strong communication skills and professional demeanor.
- Capable of effectively reviewing and proofreading various documents.
- High attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
Preferred Attributes
- Background in legal research, journalism, or proposal writing.
- Comfortable working with attorneys and interpreting legal materials.
- Able to prioritize and adapt when working on multiple projects with different timelines.
- Familiar with CRM and legal research tools.
- Able to integrate research with the firm’s business development strategy.
A variety of factors are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to experience, education, licensure and/or certifications, geographic location, market demands, other business and organizational needs, and other factors permitted by law. Final salary wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances. This position is considered part-time and therefore is not benefits eligible.
