Role Description

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Network Engineer to design, implement, and manage secure, scalable, and highly available network solutions across cloud environments. The role focuses on cloud and hybrid networking, network security, automation, and operational reliability. The successful candidate will work remotely from South Africa while supporting a US-based client and must be able to operate within the required US time zone. Strong collaboration with cloud architects, security teams, and engineering stakeholders is essential to ensure resilient and compliant network infrastructure.

• Design, implement, and manage cloud-based network architectures across AWS, Azure, and GCP environments
• Configure and maintain VPCs, virtual networks, subnets, routing tables, VPNs, and firewall rules
• Ensure high availability, scalability, and security of cloud network infrastructure
• Integrate on-premises environments with cloud platforms to support hybrid network architectures
• Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and perform optimisation activities
• Collaborate with cloud architecture and security teams to enforce best practices and compliance standards
• Automate network provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools
• Maintain accurate technical documentation for network designs, configurations, and operational procedures

Qualifications

• Strong cloud networking and infrastructure design capability is mandatory
• Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills are mandatory
• Ability to work independently in a remote, distributed team environment is mandatory
• Strong security awareness and adherence to compliance standards are mandatory
• Effective communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders are mandatory
• High level of ownership, accountability, and delivery focus is mandatory

Requirements

• A minimum of 5+ years’ experience in network engineering, with at least 3+ years in cloud networking, is mandatory
• Hands-on experience with AWS VPC, Azure Virtual Network, or GCP networking services is mandatory
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, NAT, and routing protocols is mandatory
• Experience with firewalls, load balancers, and network security groups is mandatory
• Solid knowledge of cloud security principles and network compliance frameworks is mandatory
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible is mandatory
• Scripting experience using Python and/or PowerShell is mandatory
• Exposure to multi-cloud networking and SD-WAN solutions is advantageous
• Knowledge of Zero Trust Network Architecture is advantageous
• Experience with container networking technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker is advantageous
• Relevant certifications such as AWS Advanced Networking, Azure Network Engineer Associate, or CCNP are advantageous
