Role Description
The Market Development Engineer - Medical is responsible for driving new customer engagement, identifying emerging opportunities, and expanding market presence within key medical and healthcare segments. The engineer proactively drives material specification at OEMs, medical device manufacturers, contract manufacturers, and component molders.
This individual develops a deep working knowledge of the medical value chain, including:
- Regulatory considerations
- Sterilization methods
- Biocompatibility requirements
- Clinical application needs
The individual provides technical expertise in material selection, part design, processing, and performance requirements of Celanese products and offers technical support throughout the product development life cycle.
Responsibilities
- Generates opportunities for new business growth
- Manages internal new product development (NPD), testing, computer-aided engineering, and external developments to drive projects to close
- Targets new customers in selected market spaces
- Works with new customers to determine potential applications and best Celanese material solutions
- Works with Account Manager at existing customers to develop new applications and provide technical support as needed

- Ability to work with customers to develop a tailored solution
- Develop deep customer and market knowledge
- Ability to interact, influence and facilitate at several levels of the organization
- Must be willing to prospect for new customers/projects and develop strategies for identifying and targeting new customers and segment strategies
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science or Technical Field
- 10+ Years in plastics or related field preferred; 7 years required
- Technical expertise combined with business or market development experience required
- Willingness to travel - 50%
