Job Description

• Design and optimize ETL processes for data ingestion, transformation, and storage • Conduct data mining and exploratory data analysis to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies within large datasets • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into analytical solutions • Architect, build and maintain databases with effective design principles to ensure data integrity and accessibility • Deploy machine learning models into production environments using model deployment best practices on cloud platforms • Analyze operational and performance data from school bus fleets and contracts • Build predictive and statistical models to improve various points of the business such as contract renewal, staffing needs, operational KPIs • Stay current with emerging trends in AI and analytics to continuously improve modeling approaches.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a similar field with 5+ years experience as a data scientist or in a similar role
  • 5+ years experience developing with programming languages such as SQL, Java and Python
  • Excellent understanding of SQL database/design/programming, ETL Processes, and Microsoft SQL Server
  • Experience working with data using structured (SQL) and/or unstructured (NoSQL) approaches
  • Experience with or exposure to data visualization principles and practices, especially with Power BI or Tableau
  • In-depth knowledge of Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and Azure Service Bus
  • Critical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to solve end user problems
  • A team player with good time-management skills and the ability to maintain a friendly demeanor at all times
  • Travel requirement of up to 20% on a regular basis
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new applications and technologies
  • Advanced working knowledge of computer software packages including the Microsoft Office Suite as well as demonstrated understanding of operating systems, relational database design and operation, query tools, reporting tools, and decision support tools
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a focus on teamwork, listening, and the ability to build relationships across the business
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on the company’s success
  • Self-motivated with an energetic disposition
  • Strong knowledge of machine learning frameworks and related tools
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms for model training and deployment
  • Proficiency in natural language processing (NLP), linked data integration, and AI applications
  • Knowledge of analytics tools for creating insightful dashboards
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze large datasets effectively
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
