ABOUT THE JOB
Marathon Health is transforming access to advanced primary care nationwide. We’re seeking a Sr. Director of Health Plans Partnership Success—a strategic leader with deep healthcare expertise and a proven ability to drive growth and innovation. In this role, you’ll own and optimize the day-to-day relationship within our health plan partnerships, guiding strategy and execution to deliver measurable impact. You’ll collaborate closely with internal teams and health plan leadership to shape engagement strategies, communicate outcomes, and identify and execute on opportunities for expansion.
As you deepen relationships and drive success across these partnerships, you’ll ensure that analytics, outcomes, and overall value are clearly communicated to health plan leaders. You’ll anticipate challenges, identify growth opportunities, and lead strategies for ongoing expansion. Your insights and market feedback will directly influence Marathon Health’s strategy, prioritization, and long-term growth in this emerging channel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Client Leadership & Advocacy
- Serve as the senior relationship owner for a one or more health plan partnerships, acting as a trusted advisor to local market leadership, sales, and client management.
- Champion the voice of the client internally, advocating for product/service enhancements and alignment to client needs.
- Build and maintain deep, trusted partnerships with health plan teams, and broker/consultant partners.
Partnership Growth & Expansion
- Partner with the health plan teams to support competitive and strategic pursuits, including RFP responses.
- Develop and execute a short- and long-term strategic partnership plan that will ensure the partnership exceeds achievement in the near term and long term goals.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for expansion, across our existing network footprint, as well as growth via new clinic development.
Risk Mitigation & Financial Stewardship
- Proactively identify and assess risks across the partnership, including market receptivity, capacity planning, margin analysis, GTM success, and client outcomes.
- Monitor partnership KPI’s and collaborate to implement strategies to address and correct.
Operational Alignment & Delivery Excellence
- Partner with Operations, Clinical, and Marketing teams to ensure alignment on partnership experience, performance, outcomes, and engagement initiatives.
- Oversee delivery of contracted services, ensuring operational excellence and adherence to performance guarantees.
- Drive continuous improvement and process optimization.
Data-Driven Insights & Strategic Consulting
- Collaborate closely with leadership and healthcare economics to analyze healthcare utilization, clinical outcomes, and engagement data to ensure we are delivering and communicating value and actionable insights.
- Partner with the health plan teams to translate these data insights into a compelling value prop narrative at the health plan client (plan sponsor) level.
- Leverage analytics to uncover growth opportunities and inform decision-making.
Engagement Strategy & Communication
- Develop and execute partnership specific engagement plans in collaboration with our marketing team and the partners.
Leadership & Team Development
- Mentor and educate internal cross-functional teams to ensure there is a strong understanding of our partnership goals and expectations to deliver on our long-term performance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of progressive experience in health plan client management, sales, business development or client development or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior work within a health plan or with the health plan as your prospect/client.
- Strong understanding value-based care, and this can be demonstrated across your past roles and experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in client retention, growth strategies, and consultative account management.
- Strong financial acumen with ability to interpret margin analysis and performance metrics.
- Expert in Microsoft Office, specifically building your own models, and analyzing data, as well as building your own PowerPoint decks when needed. (Salesforce strongly preferred).
- Willingness to travel up to 20-40% as needed.

Pay Range: $160,000 - $190,000/yr
