Job Description

Position Location: Remote (Headquarters is in Massachusetts)


Makai LLC is seeking a high-impact Senior Manager of Business Operations & Strategy to lead our company’s internal operations, enhance efficiency, and align daily activities with long-term strategic goals. As we scale, this role is critical to removing operational bottlenecks, implementing cross-functional processes, and ensuring effective internal collaboration. This position will "bridge the gap" between senior leadership strategy and frontline execution. Integrated with this role is the core strategic pillar of non-profit and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Strategy Management for the Kekoa Foundation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Business Operations & Efficiency (40%): Oversee daily business operations, optimizing workflows to increase productivity and reduce waste. Implement best-in-class operational processes and tools, including SOP development and technology adoption.
  • Strategy & Planning (10%): Translate executive strategy into actionable operational plans. Manage OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) across departments by consolidating data to provide reporting insights and trend analysis.
  • Communications & Cross-Functional Alignment (20%): Act as the primary liaison between teams (Business Development, Finance, Human Capital, Product, Marketing) to ensure alignment and clear internal messaging. Prepare executive-ready reports, dashboards, and presentations for board meetings and strategic reviews.
  • Non-Profit & CSR Strategy Management (30%): Develop and implement Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategies that align non-profit activities with the Foundation’s mission and business objectives. Identify, vet, and manage long-term relationships with non-profit organizations (NPOs) to bolster community engagement efforts. Oversee adherence to legal and regulatory requirements for charitable giving, ensuring the Foundation maintains its non-profit/give-back status, goals and accountability.

Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in business operations, process improvement, quality assurance or strategic planning


WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Reports to: Makai CEO & Kekoa Board of Directors
  • Sitting at desk. Phone use and PC or laptop. Filing required. May require lifting and carrying boxes of supplies or files up to 25 lbs. Extended periods of sitting while on PC/laptop or phone.
  • General office equipment, which includes: telephone, fax machine, copier, PC/laptop, and other miscellaneous office equipment.
  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is mandatory. 
  • You may be asked to continue performance during inclement weather or other conditions when others are not permitted to work
  • Travel quarterly at minimum, however ad-hoc travel may be required
  • Candidates must exhibit professional behavior that promotes teamwork, fosters cooperation, and enhances productivity in the workplace. Must be well organized with the ability to coordinate, prioritize and execute multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure environment. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to work effectively with a variety of government, military and contractor personnel at all levels. 
  • Candidates must be able to interface effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Grooming and dress is usually business casual, but dependent on client’s standards. Must not pose a safety hazard to employees working in the same general area.


Estimated Compensation

  • $145,000 - $155,000


Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to employee's experience, skills, education, industry, location, company size, and overall market demand.
