Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for delivering enterprise-level data solutions that empower business partners to provide affordable, high-quality patient care and services. Engages with business owners and stakeholders across all organizational levels to design and implement robust BI and analytics capabilities.  Develops, tests, and documents business intelligence and analytics solutions primarily leveraging Epic Clarity and Caboodle data models, while also demonstrating the ability to lead development efforts using non-Epic data sources. Collaborates with the BI Architect on the creation of custom Caboodle data models and on the design, development, and maintenance of BI solutions derived from other organizational systems.  Performs responsibilities independently and demonstrates sound judgment, initiative, and minimal need for supervisory direction.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

The ideal candidate will possess advanced ETL development expertise within the Epic Caboodle framework and demonstrate proficiency with complementary data-warehouse technologies such as SSIS/Informatica.

Design, develop, and implement robust Caboodle ETL pipelines, contributing to the continued growth, standardization, and scalability of the Caboodle Data Warehouse.

Conduct data discovery and source-system analysis to understand data structures, assess data quality, evaluate upstream workflows, and inform optimal ETL and dimensional modeling approaches.

Collaborate with BI architects, developers, analysts, and operational stakeholders to design, validate, and publish high-quality ETL processes, including the creation and maintenance of associated ETL metadata using Caboodle tools and SSIS.

Administer and help support the Microsoft data warehouse toolset (including SSIS, SSMS, and SQL Server) by performing/assisting upgrades, maintenance, configuration, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance for the development team.

Participate in and uphold design reviews, code standards, and development best practices, working closely with cross-functional IT teams to promote consistency, quality, and reusability.

Provide timely issue resolution during QA and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by investigating and correcting ETL logic, data quality issues, or environment-related defects.

Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve ETL process failures and data anomalies, using auditing, monitoring tools, and root-cause analysis to maintain accuracy, reliability, and stability across the data-warehouse ecosystem.

Enhance automation, monitoring, and operational reliability by recommending improvements to ETL frameworks, alerting, logging, and workflow orchestration.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering or equivalent work experience is required

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS:

Epic Caboodle Development for Clarity Data; Epic Caboodle Development for Non-Epic Data; Epic Caboodle Data Model; Epic Clarity Data Model; Epic Clinical Data Model

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum five years of paid work experience as a Developer using SQL Server SSIS or equivalent ETL tool.

  • Minimum 2 years  of experience with developing ETL for Epic Caboodle Data Warehouse

  • Minimum five years of experience with T-SQL or ANSI SQL coding and tuning

  • Minimum three years working in relational databases. 

  • Experience with utilizing star schema data stores as the basis for ETL targets

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Thorough understanding of the relational database model and experience in designing, modeling, developing and supporting data warehouses.

  • Experience working with diverse data sources. Knowledge of SQL query optimization and performance tuning.

  • Experience in entity relationship data modeling and data modeling tools. Knowledge of star and snow-flake schemas.

Compensation Range:

$71,500.00- $104,000.00

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, skills, and certifications/licensures as they directly relate to position requirements; as well as business/organizational needs, internal equity, and market-competitiveness.
