At UnitedHealthcare, your performance, ideas, and innovative thinking will help us improve the lives of millions. As an Actuarial Consultant on our high performance Medicare & Retirement team, you will play a pivotal role in helping drive efforts for Medicare Supplement products.
You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week. The preferred location for this position is our Fort Washington, PA office on a hybrid schedule.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Leverage extensive analytical experience and collaborate across the business to execute departmental goals and develop solutions to business challenges
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and close operational gaps, and support the implementation of those process enhancements
  • Develop, test, maintain, enhance actuarial filing models to improve the accuracy and efficiency of Medicare Supplement rate filings
  • Work with detailed claim, premium and membership data from various sources in supporting rate filing activities
  • Ensure the timely submission and approval of all assigned rate filings with thorough reviews to confirm completeness, accuracy, and overall reasonableness
  • Lead analytics that support ongoing and new advocacy efforts related to regulatory filings
  • Play an important role in supporting other key projects, including Customer Inquiry Support and the Annual Rate Notification process etc.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 4+ years of actuarial experience collecting, analyzing and summarizing qualitative/quantitative data
  • Hands on experience with VBA
  • Intermediate or higher level of proficiency in Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, especially when explaining complex topics to non expert audiences

Preferred Qualifications:
  • ASA SOA Designation
  • Proven solid critical thinking skills with the ability to analyze data deeply and identify effective, actionable solutions
  • Proven excellent written and verbal communication skills

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $91,700 to $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
