Role Description

The Vocational Case Manager provides vocational rehabilitation services to physically disabled individuals through coordination with clients, referral sources, physicians, employers, attorneys, and others with the ultimate goal being the client’s timely return to gainful employment. This position manages placements and activities within the Alternative Light Duty Program, supporting the objectives of the Case Management department and aligning with CorVel’s overall goals. This is a remote position.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Assess and identify suitable light duty assignments; monitor placements for compliance.
  • Maintain a database of modified duty opportunities and communicate work restrictions and placement details to various parties.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to support program goals through clear communication, teamwork, and positive working relationships.
  • Communicate with injured workers, non-profit organizations, attorneys, claims specialists, employers, and customers via telephone, Microsoft Teams, and Outlook.
  • Complete forms according to industry requirements.
  • Prepare organized reports within a specified timeframe.
  • Document all case activity in files.
  • Complete ongoing educational requirements as required by certifying entities.
  • May be required to attend committee meetings, participate in customer service activities, present, and participate in instructional programs.
  • Requires regular and consistent attendance.
  • Complies with all safety rules and regulations during work hours in conjunction with the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP).
  • Additional duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or related field with CRC certification (or eligible to obtain).
  • Knowledge of Case Management or Workers’ Compensation preferred.

  • Effective multi-tasking skills in a high-volume, fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to interface with claims staff, attorneys, physicians and their representatives, and advisors/clients and coworkers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to meet designated deadlines.
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Office including Excel spreadsheets.
  • Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
