• Provide leadership for the Backbone Network Engineering team • Designing and architectural review of technology deployments and software developments that impact the global Akamai backbone. • Designing, deploying, debugging and scaling core backbone infrastructure across new and existing global metros • Installing, configuring, and maintaining Juniper and Cisco hardware in production environment • Coordinating with vendors and internal organizations to build and expand large points of presence across the globe • Conducting deep protocol level debugging in collaboration with our hardware vendors to resolve complex network issues • Collaborating with cross-functional teams on topology standards and processes for router deployments, maintaining detailed documentation on router configuration and non-standard setups • Leveraging network telemetry and internal databases to drive data-informed decisions on performance optimization and capacity planning • Partnering with network architecture, automation, infrastructure, and NOC teams to maintain high network availability, reliability, and performance
