With team members around the world, Candescent is an equal opportunity employer. We are seeking an experienced Product Owner-Data to help deliver on our product objectives and roadmaps. The Product Owner is responsible for delivering product outcomes and functionality that meet customer and user needs. They will translate product vision and insights into prioritized features and user stories, developed by their agile team of 8–10 members. This role collaborates with Candescent clients and Product Managers to identify and prioritize requirements for enhancements to the Banking Platform. Product Owners also work with the Product Advisory Council, participating in user group discussions and presenting both strategic and tactical functionality. Additional responsibilities include release planning, product roadmap maintenance, and backlog grooming for assigned Candescent Banking Services initiatives. Key Areas of Responsibility Lead efforts to define specific functions, integration requirements, user experiences, and deployment strategies for delivery to both the company and market Develop, shape, and refine user stories, problem statements, and acceptance criteria to ensure efficient and effective team consumption Collaborate with the broader product organization to ensure integration across all Candescent Digital Banking Technology products Work closely with the development team to ensure that delivered products meet specified requirements and are delivered on time and within budget Drive understanding of the work to be completed by the development team, supporting effective sprint sequencing and incremental delivery Participate actively in scrum ceremonies such as sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, daily stand-ups, and demos Maintain functional quality by setting and evaluating expectations and acceptance criteria Present and train internal customers on new platform features and services released in each version Prepare explanatory documentation for customers on existing and new platform functionality Document business requirements using the company's software development tools and methodology Product P&L and Pricing Collaborate with the Product Manager to manage product profitability and performance, ensuring alignment with short- and long-term product objectives and roadmaps Product Strategy, Vision, and Planning Gather customer and user needs, along with market research, to inform the product vision and strategy created by the Product Manager Use the product vision and insights to define product features and prioritize the team’s backlog Customer Experience Research, Insights, and Execution Demonstrate a deep understanding of customers and users through the development of insights, including personas, journey maps, and product charters Product Design and Development Participate in PI (Program Increment) planning to prioritize the roadmap and inform team backlogs Write and prioritize user stories based on business needs, user requirements, and technical feasibility Continuously refine the product backlog by analyzing value versus effort Define acceptance criteria and validate that features and stories meet user quality standards Drive product development in collaboration with cross-functional teams and engage stakeholders (e.g., PMs, other POs, functions) to manage dependencies and resolve issues Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience 5+ years of experience in the finance industry, preferably with large-scale digital, online, or mobile banking applications for consumers or small businesses Strong understanding of complex business and technical problems Proven experience delivering software products through the definition, design, and release cycle Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies throughout the software development lifecycle Familiarity with industry standards such as PCI, WCAG, and FFIEC Strong leadership, project management, time management, and problem-solving skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Deep understanding of user and business needs to create and prioritize user stories that deliver value Ability to prioritize based on business value, user impact, and technical feasibility Product Specific Qualifications / Skillsets Strong experience with databases, data lake and data warehousing systems Strong knowledge of data governance standards and processes Hands-on experience of SQL, ETL, data flow, and DB schema design Experience with modern data platforms and data solutions (e.g. Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery) on clouds (e.g. AWS, GCP) Ability to have in-depth technical discussions with engineering teams on end-2-end data flow, schema design, solution, scalability, performance, reliability, and security Solid understanding of data analysis with statistical methods or AI/ML Experience with data visualization tools like Looker, Tableau, QuickSight, or Tableau for building and communicating insights Experience taking data products from inception to launch in the fintech, banking, payments, or financial services area is a big plus Statement to Third Party Agencies To ALL recruitment agencies: Candescent only accepts resumes from agencies on the preferred supplier list.
