Job Description

Movement Labs is an incubator and consulting firm that uses technology, data, and experimentation to stop fascism and build progressive power. We help progressives win and defeat MAGA extremists through year-round work grounded in research and real-world testing. Our team partners with leading advocacy groups, grassroots organizers, and electoral campaigns to develop innovative tactics, win elections, and shift power for the long term.

As the R&D powerhouse for the progressive movement, we’ve run over 100 randomized control trials (RCTs) on voter behavior and helped hundreds of organizations increase their impact. We work hard, and the environment evolves rapidly. We are adaptable, nimble, and shift quickly as needed to meet the moment. We are looking for candidates that thrive in this type of environment.

As a Regional Political Desk, you will be a core part of Contest Every Race, whose mission is to build Democratic Party infrastructure across the country in rural and non-urban communities. In 2025, CER helped recruit over 900 candidates to file and run for office and supported over 390 local Democratic Party groups through our grants program. This role works directly with county Democratic parties to train their leadership and recruit candidates to run for local office in non-urban communities across the country. As a Desk, you will build relationships with teams that receive grants from our program, as well as support general candidate recruitment across the states you manage.

This role is fully remote.

Responsibilities

1. Grant teams management: Support success and performance of county Democratic party grant teams in assigned states

  • Lead county party partnerships: serve as the point of contact and face of the program, answer questions daily from assigned county party teams, and proactively resolve challenges that arise.
  • Coach teams to success, supporting them in hitting their outreach and recruitment goals and qualifying for awards by ensuring 85%+ submit required program elements. Offer 1:1 support sessions with team leads via zoom.
  • Lead monthly state-specific trainings for county party representatives. Trainings are often held during evenings or weekends to drive attendance from the volunteers that our programs work with.
  • In partnership with communications staff, create content for program materials.
  • Ensure core program goals for recruitment metrics, grants team engagement, and project deadlines are met. Projects include multi-channel outreach to county parties, content creation for trainings or external materials, and other assigned tasks.
  • Support State party partnerships through assigned tasks, including content creation, overviewing materials, and zooms as assigned.
  • Hold Office Hours for the CER grants program to resolve issues and answer questions directly from grant teams.
  • Assist in the CER Grant texting program, which supports and builds local organizing capacity for grant teams. Work to resolve issues regarding SMS messaging campaigns sent by CER for county party events and grants programming.
  • Other duties as assigned

2. Recruitment Support: Support local Democratic party organizations to identify and support future candidates through the Contest Every Race Recruitment program. The goal is more than just getting names on the ballot - it is to build party infrastructure and create lasting impact for Democrats up and down the ballot for years to come. To support this program, this role will:

  • Host informational sessions during periods of recruitment for local organizations.
  • Serve as the point of contact for local organizations during targeting periods.
  • Other support related tasks as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience in electoral organizing or political partnerships with success in developing and winning campaigns
  • Volunteer management and engagement experience
  • Proficiency in VAN, Google Suite, and Mobilize
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, efficiently raise challenges to the team, and propose actionable solutions
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable with Asana, Slack, Loom, Google Suite
  • Alignment with Movement Labs' mission and a desire to help build progressive power
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in rural organizing or working at a Democratic State Party
  • Knowledge or experience with Democratic county parties or local organizing units
  • Experience working with hyper local candidates (School Board, City Council, Mayor, etc.)

Benefits

  • Annual salary of $60,000 - $70,000, depending on experience, as part of a transparent salary structure with clear levels of advancement, and an additional cost-of-living salary adjustment depending on candidate location.
  • Excellent health, dental, and vision benefits, 401(k) matching, and unlimited Paid Time Off. PTO is limited during the Election Sprint, August 24-November 3. We provide $700/month in reimbursable work life stipend to support employees during heavier work periods.
  • Movement Labs is a fully remote environment
  • This position is eligible for the collective bargaining unit
  • This position requires occasional evening, weekend and on-call work
  • We’re looking for candidates with a wide range of skills and experience. If you’re excited about the job, even if you don’t match all the characteristics, we encourage you to apply.
  • Movement Labs is an equal‑opportunity employer. We value a team that reflects the communities we serve and strongly encourage applications from women, people of color, LGBTQ+ people, veterans, people with disabilities, and people from rural communities.
