Job Description
• The Engineer 3 will act as a technical Subject Matter Expert focused on value engineering, QA/QC, and independent technical judgment across utility-scale EPC projects.
• Be able to perform all essential Engineer II responsibilities.
• Document meeting minutes for engineering and permitting-related meetings and distribute action items.
• Review technical RFP documents and provide engineering and permitting input to the estimating team.
• Represent SOLV engineering and permitting teams during pursuit and early-phase coordination meetings.
• Ensure coordination of design deliverables prepared by internal and external stakeholders responsible for the project scope of work.
• Develop working knowledge of project-specific design requirements, including SOLV standards, owner/contract requirements, and permitting conditions.
• Review consultant deliverables for alignment with project-specific requirements and flag deviations or risks for escalation.
• Track and manage engineering and permitting deliverable schedules in coordination with project management.
• Act as a single point of contact for all engineering disciplines to internal and external stakeholders.
• Review and approve consultant proposals, scopes of work, schedules, and budgets.
• Provide QA/QC oversight of individual consultant work products as well as the fully integrated, multi-discipline design.
• Share lessons learned and best practices across projects to improve future execution.
• Manage Owner, Owner’s Engineer, and Independent Engineer submittals.
• Coordinate review comments with consultants and track responses to closure.
• Assist in responding to Owner and IE comments and clarifications.
• Support permitting efforts by coordinating with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) at the federal, state, and local levels.
• Attend in-person AHJ meetings as needed.
• Track engineering and permitting changes that may impact project scope, cost, or schedule and elevate risks appropriately.
• Review EPC contract exhibits related to owner- and contractor-obtained permits and flag issues or inconsistencies.
Job Requirements
- 4–7 years of progressive engineering experience in EPC, renewable energy, utilities, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical or Solar focus preferred).
- Engineer-in-Training (F.E.)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Working knowledge of Primavera P6 or similar scheduling tools.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in parallel.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Ability to adapt and respond quickly in a fast-paced EPC environment.
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of accountability.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to travel up to 20% to project sites or partner offices and work in active construction environments, with reasonable accommodation.
