Job Description
• Manage, participate in, and lead the work of a team of technical writers.
• Support the design, development, preparation, and maintenance of technical content including processes, workflows, standards, operating models, user manuals, tutorials, policies, business schedules, technical documentation, etc.
• Lead, develop, and grow a team of high-performing technical writers.
• Being a key decision maker on documentation templates, documentation management, standardization, organization, security processes, and archiving to ensure compliance with corporate quality standards.
• Ensuring documentation work is tracked to meet milestone dates and internal or external deliverables.
• Evaluating business cases for external documentation and developing a strategy and a team to support as applicable.
• Ensure creation of and adherence to standardization and documentation quality standards (including consistency, branding, adherence to a style guide, etc.) by all technical writers on the team. This may require review and editing or staffing team with an editor.
• Define and own execution of technical writing mechanisms, including intake, prioritization, execution, and reporting processes.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in English, Communication, Business Administration, Technical Writing, or business-related discipline.
- 3+ years people leadership experience.
- 6+ years of experience required in technical writing and documentation in a software development environment.
- Proven ability to mentor, coach, and manage high-performing teams.
- Strong understanding of software development processes, APIs, and modern documentation tools (e.g. Markdown, GitHub, Confluence)
- Experience creating infographics such as diagrams, screenshots, workflows, graphs, etc.
