Job Description
What are we looking for?
The Configuration Specialist is a platform-focused builder responsible for designing and executing structured system configuration within the VBA platform. This role requires strong operational judgment and a deep understanding of healthcare benefit plan builds, structure, and rules. You will translate approved solution designs into clean, scalable platform configurations while ensuring decisions support long-term stability and operational integrity.
The Configuration Specialist plays a critical role in understanding client intent, evaluating current-state setups, and supporting future-state configuration. You will assess how configuration decisions impact downstream processes — including claims, eligibility, accumulators, workflows, reporting, and integrations — and build accordingly.
Success in this role is measured by configuration accuracy, scalability of build patterns, clarity of documentation, and the sustained performance of client environments long after go-live.

- Building and maintaining benefit plans and reusable plan templates

- Validating system behavior through structured testing

What are we looking for in this position?
5+ years of healthcare insurance / TPA experience
A strong understanding of healthcare benefit plan builds, structure, and rules
Working knowledge of how plan build decisions impact downstream processes
Experience working within benefit administration systems or operational claims environments
High attention to detail with strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
Clear communicator who can articulate benefit logic and system behavior effectively
What We Consider a Plus
- Experience configuring VBA or similar healthcare administration platforms
- Experience supporting implementations or structured client onboarding
- Exposure to claims logic, accumulators, workflow automation, or system rules design
- Experience contributing to configuration standards or process improvements
What will you be doing?
Platform Configuration & Plan Build Execution
- Build and maintain client benefit plans within the VBA platform
- Translate benefit structures and operational requirements into system configuration
- Configure eligibility logic, accumulators, workflows, and related system rules
- Support both implementation builds and structured updates for live clients
Validation & Operational Integrity
- Conduct validation and testing of configuration changes
- Evaluate how configuration decisions impact downstream processes
- Identify risks or inconsistencies before they affect client operations
- Troubleshoot configuration-related issues and partner cross-functionally on resolution
Documentation & Standards
- Document configuration logic and client-specific nuances clearly
- Maintain structured build artifacts to support scalability and repeatability
- Contribute to evolving configuration standards and best practices
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Solution Consultants, Implementation, Data Integration, Product, and Training
- Communicate configuration strategy, risks, and dependencies proactively
- Support disciplined execution against implementation timelines
Travel Requirements: 20%
