Role Description

Our Senior Underwriter plays a critical role in evaluating and managing risk for real estate-backed hard money loan transactions. This position requires deep expertise in underwriting Fix & Flip, Bridge, and Ground-Up Construction (GUC) loans within a fast-paced lending environment. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, decisive, and comfortable balancing speed, accuracy, and sound risk management to support efficient deal execution.

  • Underwrite hard money loan transactions including Fix & Flip, Bridge, and Ground-Up Construction (GUC) loans
  • Evaluate borrow creditworthiness, experience, liquidity, and overall financial strength
  • Analyze property valuations using appraisals, broker price opinions (BPOs), and market data
  • Review and assess construction budgets and project feasibility
  • Calculate and evaluate key underwriting metrics, including LTV, LTC, ARV, and cash-to-close
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risk while supporting timely deal execution
  • Clearly communicate underwriting decisions and rationale to internal teams
  • Ensure all loans comply with company underwriting guidelines and investor requirements
  • Participate in loan committee meetings and discussions as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience considered
  • Minimum of two (2) years of direct hard money underwriting experience
  • Proven experience underwriting Ground-Up Construction and Fix & Flip loans
  • Strong understanding of real estate valuation and construction-related risk
  • Ability to analyze complex loan structures and diverse borrower profiles
  • Detail-oriented with strong judgement and decision-making capabilities
  • Ability to perform effectively in a deadline-driven, high-volume environment
